Canon 4th Generation Canobeam free-space optics solutions all incorporate exclusive Canon real-time active tracking, and can be deployed within days.

Canobeam Auto-tracking

With Built-In Auto Tracking...

The optical beam axis will continually correct maintaining proper transmission throughout. When the unit moves the beam axis does not. No deviation of the beam assures stable transmission.

Among the most notable advances featured in the DT-100 Series is Auto Tracking, which is now built-in to the complete line from the high end DT-130 to the more economical DT-110. This Canon-engineered and developed feature maintains transmission during normal building sway and movement, automatically compensating for shifting of buildings and platforms due to vibration, wind, temperature changes and other environmental conditions. Incorporating technology from Canon's deep experience developing precision optical systems for broadcast lenses, Canon's Auto Tracking is the most advanced available today.

The narrow beam (2m at 2km, 1m at 1km) achieved with the Auto Tracking feature is much more power efficient (25X more) in comparison with a FSO unit without Auto Tracking, which will spread the beam at about 5m at 1km.

The narrow beam is also the reason why Canobeam only needs to visibly see half of the linking distance to maintain communication.

Without Built-In Canobeam Auto Tracking...
The optical beam axis will deviate with normal building or mount movements affecting transmission. Causes can include temperature fluctuation, wind, vibration, normal building sway.

These new 4th Generation Active Aligned Canobeam DT-110, DT-120 DT-130 and DT-150 models replace models (DT-30, DT-50, DT-55) that were considered  state-of-the-art. Needless to say, these new DT-100 entries have caught the entire FSO industry's attention.

Since the introduction of these high performance active aligned models,
System
Support
Solutions has been involved in the deployment of nearly
200 DT-100 series Canon FSO links.

Increasingly, as FSO integration information and experiences become more widely known, active alignment has bubbled up to the top of the list of required features for those in the know. And the benefits of a product backed by a $35 billion technology giant is reassuring to say the least.
